What’s your commitment to giving back?
At
beyond empowerEd™, we believe education is a powerful tool for equity, inclusion, and lifelong impact. How does beyond empowerEd™ save districts money?

Our services ensure efficiency, sustainability, and improved student outcomes at a fraction of these costs.

Special Education (California Specific)

What is the legal timeline for IEP meetings in California?
In California, IEP meetings must be held annually, and initial evaluations must be completed within 60 calendar days of parent consent. Triennial reviews must occur every three years unless the team agrees otherwise.

What makes an IEP compliant in California?
An IEP is compliant when it:

✔ Is based on current evaluations and data

✔ Includes measurable annual goals aligned with the student’s needs

✔ Outlines services in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE)

✔ Documents parent participation and consent

✔ Meets IDEA and California Education Code timelines and requirements

What are Procedural Safeguards?
Procedural Safeguards are the legal rights and protections for parents and students in the special education process. In California, schools are required to provide parents with a copy at least once a year and whenever a parent requests an evaluation, files a complaint, or upon request.
